Right before the start of BWME-2023 (October 25-29) another perfume exhibition took place – Kuwait Perfume Expo 2023. Fragrantica has not previously written about this Spring-Autumn expo, although there are some interesting brands in the country (for example, the fragrance kitchen with almost a hundred fragrances) and I’m sure there were more than just ‘homegrown brands’ at it. One of the Kuwaiti brands, CZAR Perfumes, showcased their new collection of three fragrances at the show, designed by Nathalie Feisthauer.
The new collection features three fragrances, Antelope CZAR, Rose CZAR and Gardenia CZAR. It is known that before a perfumer begins creating some brand new fragrances, you need to familiarize yourself with the character of the brand.
As Nathalie Feisthauer admitted, one of the brand’s bestsellers, Impala CZAR from the Velvet Collection (we wrote about this unusual oriental fragrance) helped her to get closer to understanding the CZAR brand DNA and the tastes of Kuwaiti customers. Starting with spicy citrus freshness, Natalie emphasized rose and dark woody-amber accord with oud, leather and ambergris.
Top notes: Grapefruit, Calabrian bergamot, Eucalyptus, Saffron, Black pepper, African ginger and Pink pepper;
Middle notes: Damask Rose, Rosewood, Rosewood, Palmarosa, Geranium, Apple, Rose and Styrax;
Base notes: Oud, Virginia Cedar, Atlas Cedar, Patchouli, Vetiver, Nagarmotha, Sandalwood, Amber Xtreme, Frankincense, Labdanum, Ambroxan, Hay, Tobacco, Ambrette, Leather and Muscenone.
Probably no Middle Eastern brand collection can do without a Rose-themed fragrance, the Queen of Flowers is in every heart here. In Kuwait, as in any other Middle Eastern country, both men and women wear rose. Rose CZAR is a spicy and powdery version of rose, aimed at connoisseurs of modern rose compositions; it is created at the junction of oriental and European traditions.
Top notes: Saffron and Cloves;
Middle notes: Damask rose and Powder notes;
Base notes: Gurjum Balsam, Cedar, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Kephalis, Amber Xtreme, Ambroxan, Oak Moss and Musk.
Gardenia CZAR seems to be the most European fragrance in the new collection. In part, it is – the green accord and freshness of lily of the valley are more commonly found in Western brands. However, jasmine sambac is a frequent guest among seductive Arabian compositions for women, and the clean and persistent woody-musky accord makes Gardenia CZAR‘s lasting freshness an especially winning composition for hot climates.

Base notes: Cedar, Amber Xtreme, Ambrette and Muscenone.
